AI Agents for Business Automation in Nanaimo and BC

AI agents for business automation are a team of assistants, each assigned a specific job. I’m Trevor Heshka in Nanaimo, BC. I build agentic workflows that prepare work, coordinate tasks and ask you before sending emails, publishing anything, spending money or deleting data. On-site help across mid-Vancouver Island; remote work across Canada.

What is a team of AI agents?

Each agent gets a defined role, limited access and a clear handoff. A chief-of-staff agent coordinates the work, flags dependencies and brings decisions back to you. It does not approve restricted actions on your behalf.

Tasks each agent can handle

This is an example roster, not a claim that every integration is already available for every business.

Inbox and email drafts

Sort requests, summarize conversations and prepare replies. You review the recipient and message before sending.

Scheduling

Identify conflicts and propose meeting times. Calendar changes and invitations need approval.

Reports and data

Prepare reports from approved sources and flag missing or inconsistent information.

Customer follow-ups

Track outstanding requests and draft reminders. No customer contact without your OK.

Content and social drafts

A media agent prepares content drafts. A site SEO agent reviews page structure and recommends changes. Neither publishes without approval.

IT monitoring

A security-review agent surfaces access or configuration concerns. A Git agent prepares proposed code changes, while a cloud agent reviews hosting needs. Production changes, spending and deletion require approval. A review is not a guarantee of security.

How it works

  1. Map repeatable tasks, data needs and human decisions.
  2. Build focused agents with limited access and clear outputs.
  3. Define approval rules before connecting business systems.
  4. Test sample work before launching a live workflow.
  5. Review failures, maintain connections and adjust the workflow.

Skills and experience behind the work

I’m Trevor Heshka, founder of Hesh Co. in Nanaimo. My background combines 25+ years of customer-facing technical support with full-stack development, cybersecurity and AI. I have worked across Tier 1–3 support, supervised support staff and handled documentation, escalation and change management. I have been a self-employed IT specialist for local homes and small businesses since 2020.

My skills include HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, SQL, React and Node.js, plus Windows, Linux, networking, permissions, MFA, endpoint hardening, cloud deployment and automated delivery workflows.

I build and fine-tune custom language models. HeshBot is a self-hosted website chatbot running on my custom models. BC Real Estate Market Pulse (BC REMP) is a map-based real-estate research app; BC Court List Archive provides court-data search. My agentic development work includes isolated Git worktrees and sandboxed execution. These are examples of my work, not claims of client savings or guaranteed results.

Safety and control

The workflow stops for your explicit approval before any email is sent, anything is published, money is spent or data is deleted. The chief-of-staff agent routes these decisions to you rather than approving them itself.

We agree which data each agent may use, where it is processed and who can access the results before connecting business systems. Access is limited to the task. Logs should record proposed actions, approvals and outcomes without unnecessarily copying sensitive information. Private hosting and custom models are options to assess—not a blanket promise of Canadian data residency for every connected service.

AI can misunderstand instructions or produce incorrect results. Start with drafts and low-risk tasks, check outputs and keep a way to pause. This is supported automation, not set-and-forget business management.

Who it’s for

Small businesses that repeatedly sort requests, prepare reports, maintain a website or coordinate follow-ups—and want an owner involved in important decisions. On-site across mid-Vancouver Island and remote across Canada. Start with one well-defined task, not the whole business.

AI agents vs chatbots vs rule-based automation

A chatbot mainly answers conversational questions. Rule-based automation follows predetermined triggers and steps. Agentic workflows interpret requests, prepare work and hand tasks to specialists within defined limits. These approaches can work together. HeshBot is a website chatbot; a coordinated agent team is a broader workflow. Neither replaces review of consequential actions.

FAQ

What is an AI agent for business?

An assistant assigned a defined business task, with instructions, limited access and rules for when to ask a person.

How is a team of AI agents different from one chatbot?

Each agent has a specific responsibility. A chief-of-staff agent coordinates handoffs and asks the owner for decisions.

Which tasks can AI agents automate?

Examples include sorting requests, drafting emails, proposing schedules, preparing reports, reviewing SEO and drafting content. Practical scope depends on your systems and data.

Will the agents send emails or spend money without my OK?

No. Your explicit approval is required before emails, public posts, spending or deletion. A coordinating agent cannot approve them for you.

Is my business data safe?

No connected system is risk-free. We review data access, hosting, permissions and logging before setup and limit access. Sensitive data should not be connected until requirements are clear.

Do I need technical staff to use AI agents?

You do not need to write code to review drafts and approve actions. I can help with setup and support; someone in your business remains responsible for decisions and checking results.

Can you work with businesses outside Nanaimo?

Yes. On-site across mid-Vancouver Island and remotely across Canada.

How long does setup take?

It depends on the task, integrations, access and testing. We define the first workflow before agreeing a timeline.

How much does it cost?

It depends on scope, integrations, hosting and support. Email me with the task so we can discuss requirements.
